“If to cross this bridge, thy desire be,” intoned the glowing orb, “answer thee, my questions three!“
Deena’s travels were interrupted by a luminous sphere floating above a bridge. It guarded the only crossing of the great lava flow for miles in either direction, and Deena had neither the time not the patience for the delay.
“I care not whether you are demon or mage,” she replied, unsheathing her sword. “I have no time for silly games. You will yield.”
“My questions, you will find, are simple and fair.” The orb pulsed and shimmered as it ‘spoke.’ “Even for one such as you, graced with blonde hair.”
“Hey now, watch yourself,” Deena warned with a scowl. “Fine. Ask away…but may we dispense with the annoying rhyming?”
“Fine,” the orb replied with a huff. “First, what is your name, by what are you known?”
“I am Deena, former Captain of the Guard,” she offered. Then with a snort, she added, “and, I suppose, Usurper of the Realm.”
“A fine name indeed, by those you know best. Where does your path lead, what is your quest?”
“I warned you about the rhyming,” Deena sneered, clearly irritated by now. “My quest? I don’t know…go on a raid, hopefully get paid, maybe get laid.”
“Charming,” the orb scoffed. “An easy one, for you then. What is your favorite color?”
“Favorite color?” she replied in surprise. “Umm…gold? Red? Wait…no, blue!”
“A pity,” the orb mused. “Due to that pause, you’ll fail in your cause.”
Deena found herself levitated in the air, swinging her arms helplessly, as the orb forced her over the edge of the bridge. “Wait!! You didn’t ask if that was my final answer!”
“Such rules are unneeded, excepting a game show.” The orb’s voice was actually chuckling now. “My warning unheeded, into the lava you go!”
“STOPPP!” she screamed as she fell. “I can’t take any more rhyming!!!!”
“If your desire to Usurp the Realm is insistent,” the voice of the orb called out. “Perhaps you should first become flame resistant!”

Unfortunately for Deena, ‘the orb’ tolerated neither indecisiveness nor impatience…so into the lava flow, she had to go.
The above is the result of a fun little game my friend @Dxc2005 initiated – answer three questions and cross the bridge; fail, and be tossed into the lava. Huge thanks to him for including Deena in his fun game. And credit also to Sabrina “Sabasha” for that great ‘fire resistant’ line!
