A SPOOKTACULAR CREATIVE COLLABORATION

10 STORIES! 5 AUTHORS! 5 SEXY PIECES OF ART!

The awesome author friends that hang out in the discord server of callmeplisskin all decided to undertake a big collaboration of spooky stories (almost) in time for Halloween. We actually have 10 stories that are all stitched together by a common thread, where all of our Original Characters visit a creepy old inn together and end up telling spooky stories by firelight.

Then we decided to take it one step further and commission callmeplisskin to sketch each of our OCs in a scene from their story. This resulted in one amazing and fun live art-stream where he cranked out all 5 images in one marathon session.

The main thread of the story is below; throughout you will find links to the individual stories.

My friends and I all hope you enjoy reading the spooky stories as much as we did trading ideas and writing!

~~~~~
The girls’ weekend at ‘Club Mmmph,’ the goblins’ dungeon-themed resort and spa, had been a rousing–and arousing–success, and the group of friends who had accompanied Aly were making the long journey home.  They had lingered at the resort well past check-out time (no one wanted it to end), so the delayed departure meant an unscheduled overnight stay on the road.
The kindly couple who suddenly appeared–coincidentally just as night was falling–enthusiastically recommended an inn and tavern, one they said could be found just a mile down the less-traveled fork in the road.  The girls were pleasantly surprised to find the glow of lights and smell of a wood fire from a quaint looking inn in such an out-of-the-way location.
They wandered in and set down their bags in the common area while Evie went to see about booking rooms for the night.  She grinned at Aly’s suggestion that the girls pair up in double beds to save money. Evie found the innkeeper, an older, slender man with a vaguely creepy air about him. An elderly woman rocked in a rocking chair nearby.
“Welcome to the Baiter Inn,” the innkeeper said.  “I am your host, Norman.”
“Hello, Master… uh… Norman. We’d like to book some rooms for the night.” Evie flashed the innkeeper her most brilliant grin. “We can double up, if possible.”
“SHENANIGANS!” the old woman shrieked from her seat, causing everyone to jump.
“Sorry, we only have single rooms available,” the innkeeper said. “Grandmother is a devout woman and has stern views on propriety. And she does own the inn.”
His dark eyes wandered Evie’s form, suggesting he would not be adverse to the idea.
She made a mental note to check the room she got for peep holes.  She paused for a moment as Norman’s words sank in.
“So… Baiter is a family name then?” Evie asked innocently.
~~~~~

Evie walked back to the weary group with some bad news.  “The rooms aren’t ready for us until after dinner hours, but while we wait, he says we can explore the inn and the grounds and hang out in the lounge by the fire.  Weird vibe from that one.  What kind of name is Norman anyway?”

Elspeth snorted derisively.  “What, you couldn’t use your special hussy powers and seduce him into giving us our rooms sooner?”

“Well, you could go plop your melon-boobs on the counter and see if you could do better…” Evie retorted.

“Did you tell him I volunteered to sing in the tavern?” Prim asked.  “That always gets me at least a room upgrade.”

“Did you tell him my idea about sharing rooms?” Aly offered, then looked thoughtful.  “I knew a Norman in the Academy.  He had a thing for my sister.  It was kind of cute and kind of sad…”

“Chuck had a cousin named Norman, I think,” Bree mused.

“What?” Aly asked.

“What?” Bree blinked, looked startled.

“How many barmaids are known to be on duty?” Laressa asked.

Aya and Tia just rolled their eyes at each other and sighed.

“Ok, ok, look…” Evie said, rubbing the bridge of her nose.  “He said dinner is ‘on the house’ and will be ready soon.  There’s a place we can wash up over there, though I’d check for peep holes.  I think the innkeeper is a perv.  We can explore the inn and the grounds, we’ll get some dinner, and then meet back here by the fire and chat over drinks until the rooms are ready, ok?”

“Sure, Evie!”  Millie said with an eager grin, then turned excitedly to Aly.  “I want to hear about your experiences at the resort.”  Then she looked sheepishly around the group.  “Well, I want to hear everyone’s experiences…I mean…”

“Of course, sweetie,” Evie said.  We’ll all tell stories around the fire.”

~~~~~
“That stable is just creepy,” Millie muttered.
“I don’t know,” Laressa mused.  “The spiderwebs have a certain aesthetic appeal.”
“The tack room looked…interesting…” Aly said quietly.
“Can’t say I’m all that keen on the innkeeper’s dog,” Elspeth muttered.  “Cool Joe is a strange name for a hound.”
“There’s a room off from the common area with clown paintings,” Tia said, shuddering.
“What is a clown?” Aya asked.
“An abomination of the darkest nightmares,” Elspeth said, adding her own shudder in sympathy.
“There is a well-stocked wine collection in the cellar,” Evie said, while looking around the main room curiously.  “Though the cellar seems small compared to the foundation of the main house.”
“Looks like the weather’s turning,” Aly said, eyeing the dark clouds that blotted out the stars.  “We may get a storm tonight.”
“Good excuse to gather around the hearth fire,” Evie grinned.
“And tell stories,” Prim added.
“Oh yes, that too,” Evie slipped a wink at Aly, who bit her lip and grinned back.
“The service here sure is sketchy,” Bree complained.  “I asked that barmaid for a drink ten minutes ago and she never came back.”
“How odd,” replied Laressa, studying her fingernails.
“So who would like to begin?” Evie looked around.  “Elspeth?  Why not you?”
“Why me?”
“Why not?”
Elspeth sighed.  “Fiiiiine.  Since we’re in a creepy inn in the middle of nowhere, let’s go with a creepy story, right? I’ll tell you an encounter I had years back.  I’d just left the Varalan Border Wardens.  I’d gotten a taste for a life of danger and such.  I was passing through the heart of Varala…”
“Very good story, Elspeth,” Evie said with a grin.  That was some quick thinking to get out of that situation…really used all your talents and assets.  And who here is surprised you flounced around naked for tips??”
“How about you go next, then, Evie?”  she retorted.  “I happen to know you don’t mind having…or being…sloppy seconds.”
 A low ‘ooooooooh’ spread among the other girls.
Evie crossed her arms defiantly.  “No worries, I can match your story…you might even recognize one of the characters in it!”
“And by the way,” Evie continued. “I’ve seen those little stick-dolls for sale in certain unsavory establishments…I’m going to be keeping an eye out for yours.”
When I finished my story, Prim was the first to react, clapping rapidly and bringing everyone back to the present.
“Oh, that was simply marvelous!” she gushed with an expression of delight. “A most excellent story, told with a skill and timing nearly as if you were a bard yourself.” The gnome winked.
“Thank you, Prim, that’s high praise coming from you.”  I gave her a genuine smile.
I looked around the room.  Most of the girls were still looking at me with a sense of wonder and curiosity, as if trying to determine how much was really true and what I might have embellished.
The only one who didn’t look skeptical was Elspeth.  Instead, she was staring off into the distance, her mind somewhere else.  Aya followed my gaze and noticed the glazed look in her friend’s eyes.  She nudged Elspeth.
“You’re still thinking about him carrying you over his shoulder all tied up, aren’t you!!”  She hissed the words scornfully.
Elspeth jolted back to reality.  “What? No! I wasn’t…it’s just…”
“For crying out loud, Elspeth, he left you tied up in a cabana and disappeared, never to be heard from again…why are acting like such…such a…such a girl!
“I can’t…I don’t know. It’s just…he was just…”  Elspeth looked at me like she needed a lifeline.  “Evie, you get it, right?”
Just this once, I figured she’d endured enough teasing, so I let her off the hook. I sighed heavily.
“Yeah, Els…I get it…”
“I don’t think I can match your story, Evie,” Aly said slowly.  “But I did have a sort of weird sexy encounter that you all might want to hear…”
“Share!” Bree insisted.
There was the sound of a soft cough.
Eyes flickered up to the innkeeper lurking in the doorway of the common room.
“Dinner is served.”
“Excellent!” Prim bounced to her feet. “Let us get some food in our bellies, and then I shall treat you all to a spooOOooky tale of the creepiest, most horrible things imaginable!” she finished in a false-sinister tone.
Tia’s brow furrowed. “And that would be…?” she asked.
“Think on it, Hot-Tits!” Prim suggested brightly.
Tia bit her lip and rolled her eyes.
“Oh. That. Whyever did I not expect this one?”
“Trauma-induced amnesia?” Prim asked with a grin.
“Is it okay if I go next?” Millie asked timidly, looking at the other women sitting around the fire.
“Sure go ahead, sweetie”, Evie said, smiling and the others nodding in unison for her to go.
“Thank you.” Millie said as she started rummaging through her bag, pulling out a small notebook and hastily flicking through the pages until she landed on the section she intended. Taking a deep breath before she started.
“This tale is about a small town which is located near to the mysterious Greyspell Forest which is notorious for the many strange and magical creatures that exist within.” She paused allowing that information to simmer.
“Each year this town would have bountiful harvests, giant pumpkins, crops, all sorts of things. So renowned were they that it would attract people from all over. This placed a greater emphasis on this town having successful harvests every year.”
“Oh I know where this is going,” blurted Aly, hunkering down and biting her bottom lip, she blushed as the other women looked at her, some knowingly and others quizzically. Aly knew plenty about these kinds of ceremonies, having been chosen as the offering countless times by now.
“This brings us onto my story and where things get a little bit more sinister…”
“And that’s my story,” said Millie, closing her notebook.
“Wow sweetie,” said Evie, “I must really commend your bravery, your sweet nature won over the monster to be your protector.”
“Sometimes, someone sweet and innocent can make the heart of the most ruthless predator melt.” Laressa chimed in, finishing with a small wink.
“Wow, whenever I am the offering to a beast it doesn’t usually turn out so pleasant.” said Aly, shaking her head in bemusement.
Bree leaned forward, filled with curiosity.  “Wait, Millie, are you saying that this is a real story, did this really happen to you?”
“Well maybe…” Said Millie, biting her bottom lip and getting a little flustered. “I do have this.” She pulled out a ring, engraved with markings of the forest, eliciting a moment of astonishment from those present.
“And I DID make a promise to return it next harvest time.”
The circle of friends just stared at Millie for a moment…as if seeing her through new eyes.
Finally, Aly broke the silence. “If it’s ok, I thought of another really scary and spooky story that happened to me not too long ago…can I tell another?”
“Sure, Aly, why not?” Aya said. It will give me another moment to collect my thoughts before I take my turn.”
“Ok! So my next spooky story began, as many of them do, with me on a lone patrol on a deserted road, headed somewhere to retrieve something…”
“That is a truly spooky encounter,” Aya said. “As we are sharing tales, I have one, if you care to hear. It is a tale of my homeland of Ienotochi…”
Bree got up in front of the group nervously.  It was strange, she could happily chat with customers at the Devil’s Due all day and night–but in this group of women she was still the shy newcomer.
“Uhh…hi…so…I haven’t had as many exciting adventures as all of you, but I had something really scary happen to me at the Devil’s Due.”
Millie gasped. “I know, right?? That place is so…well, you know…”
“Yeah, Millie, scary things happen there every day.  But you all have heard Bruce say, ‘don’t feed the thing under the sink’…well, I know what happens when you do feed it.”
Bree paused for effect. “Because I fed it.”
There was a murmur in the room, and the more regular Devil’s Due visitors exchanged looks.
“Yeah, I see your skeptical looks,” she continued.  “Let me explain.”
“I’m sorry, Bree, but I have a difficult time believing that ending,” Prim cut in with a skeptical expression.
“I swear, it’s all true, Prim!”
“Hardly! I do not simply ‘hop’ on tables; I dance with delicate precision and grace. And you make it sound as if my performance is a bother. I will have you know, my fans demand my…”
Aly cut in. “Prim, she’s just repeating what Bruce said. You can’t fault Bree for that.”
“Humph! Well we shall just see if I ever grace the Devil’s Due with my performances again,” Prim huffed.
“As if anyone could stop you,” Tia muttered.
“What was that, Hot-Tits?” Prim asked, rounding on her companion.
“I said, he’s fortunate to have you,” Tia smiled. “And he should appreciate you. Like we do.”
Prim eyed Tia warily a moment, then shrugged. “Too right he is. I will not allow my fans to be denied my amazing displays merely because of one incompetent, unappreciative, untutored — “
“Exactly,” Tia said, cutting her off mid-diatribe and playfully slapping her on the back. Prim crossed her arms but quieted down, mollified.
They heard another discreet cough from the doorway.
Evie looked up to see Norman standing there again. She wondered how long he’d been standing there listening. Listening, and staring…he seemed to have his eyes locked on Aly.
“Yes, Norman? Do you need something?”
“Your rooms are ready,” Norman said, shaking his head to break his own stare, and turning to Evie. If he was trying to meet Evie’s eyes, he was looking about a foot too low.
“Not yet!” Aly cried out. “We’re still in the middle of storytime!”
“Thank you, Master Baiter,” Evie said, keeping her face straight. “We’ll be done soon.”
Norman huffed and left. To their credit, the women stifled their giggles until he was mostly out of earshot.
“I don’t…” Millie frowned. “Oh! I get it! Hahahaha!”
Aly spoke up to re-direct the conversation. “I have another story I can tell…”
“Wait, haven’t you gone twice already, Aly?” Millie asked innocently.
“Shh, Millie…Aly lives spooky stories pretty much every week, sweetie.” Evie patted her on the shoulder. “Let’s let her tell another. I think it might be cathartic for her.”
“You’re right. I just want to make sure everyone gets a turn.” Millie shot a furtive look at Laressa, who in return gave Millie a smile and a wink. Millie blushed and looked down at her hands.
Aly began again:
There was a brief silent pause in the room.  Then several voices cut in at once:
    That’s it?
    That’s a terrible ending!
    She just let you go?
    And she never let you come?
    Who was she?
Laressa’s calm voice cut through the din, silencing the rest.  “Did you really never find out who she was?”
“No, I never did.  But sometimes, I get this spooky feeling that she is very close by…watching me…waiting for just the right time to make her next move…
“Interesting,” Laressa replied quietly. “Well, I believe I’m the only one who hasn’t gone yet, so allow me to tell you a tale that happened in the land where I used to live before I came to Rith.”
~~~~~~

~~~~~~
“Wait…” Tia looked like she was connecting the dots.  “Does this mean that you..?”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Laressa said coyly, a playful smirk on her lips.  “It is just a story I heard from a town I used to visit frequently, and no one even heard of what came of those poor, poor women.”
“Right…” Tia shifted a few inches away from Laressa, which only broke a laugh from her.  Prim meanwhile just mumbled and looked pleadingly at Laressa.  Prim was trying to be good… even batting her eyelashes at her.  Laressa just rolled her eyes, and promptly freed the lips of the chatterbox.
~~~~~~

“After all those spooky stories, I’m kind of nervous about sleeping in my room alone,” Millie said quietly, casting a sideways glance at Aly as she did.

“That is quite understandable, Millistripes!” Prim said, perking up instantly and slipping an arm around Tia’s waist.  “I don’t think any of us should be expected to sleep alone in this creepy inn.”

“It would be wise from a tactical standpoint to be able to watch each others’ backs,” Aya intoned, trying in vain to sound serious.  Elspeth undermined that with a soft laugh and a tender brushing of her friend’s hand.

“Of course, Millie,” Aly cooed back at her friend.  After hearing Millie’s story, she was intrigued to see the shy girl in a different light.  Candlelight, to be precise.

Evie watched the two of them with a mild pang of envy.  She was about to inquire about joining them both, when she saw Bree out of the corner of her eye.  Bree was glancing at Laressa warily, her body language showing her unease.

Evie took a look at Laressa and got a pang of something else.  She was tempted to invite Laressa to her room, but her intuition told her the statuesque redhead might already have other plans.  Evie wondered if she was the only one who noticed the number of inn staffers dwindling.

“Bree, would you feel better with some company, too?” Evie asked, showing a sweet smile and just a hint of persuasive gaze.

Bree’s face lit up with relief.  “Yes!” she exclaimed, a little too obviously.  She practically jumped over to Evie’s side.

Evie caught Laressa’s eye and gave her a knowing look.  “Laressa, you’re welcome to…”

“I shall be fine…I think I’ll find our missing barmaid and see about a nightcap.”  She gave Evie a wink back.

~~~~~
From the front of the inn, Norman and Mother watched the pairs of girls go up the stairs arm in arm.
“Norman, I warned them about shenanigans,” the elderly woman said with stern contempt.
“Yes, Mother.  They were given every fair warning.  The blame is theirs alone.”
~~~~~

As the women got to their rooms, they found crackling fires in their hearths and candles flickering around the room.  For all of Norman’s warnings, it was a rather romantic setting…if the girls hadn’t already been in an intimate mood, the plush warm bed and the soft lighting would have sealed the deal.

Had Norman and Mother been watching, they would have seen the pairs of girls undress, slip under the covers, and cuddle up together for warmth.

They might have also observed some nuzzling and canoodling under covers.  Perhaps even some light smooshing.  But that was all rather tame compared to what Norman and Mother overheard of their saucy spooky stories.

Actually, Norman and Mother were watching.

“Shenanigans such as these cannot be tolerated, Norman. All of them have broken the rules. All except the red haired woman. As soon as they are asleep, send in the staff.”

“Yes, Mother.  Umm…where are the staff, by the way?  I haven’t seen any of them for a while.”

Mother sighed.  “Well, I suppose we’ll just have to do the work ourselves.”

Norman was lucky the hallway was in darkness, or Mother may have noticed his happy leer.

~~~~~
Paired in their beds, the girls slept soundly; the good food, the good wine, the warm rooms, and their warm bodies lulled them into a very deep sleep.  Had they not slept so soundly, the women may have felt their arms pulled around the backs of their partners and wrists bound into an intimate embrace.
That many of them were already embracing made the job easier for Norman and Mother.  Most murmured and sighed in the throes of saucy dreams as their bodies became entwined.
Their legs were woven together as well, their ankles bound behind the other’s, so that each girl had one thigh slid between the thighs of the other.  They were secured in that position with a restraint binding their waists together, and their shoulders were pinned together as well.
Norman was treated to an up-close-and-in-person view of this ‘smooshing’ they had referred to in their tales.
~~~~~

When Norman and Mother were finished, they rejoined each other in the hall.

“Despite their shenanigans, they’re all lovely, aren’t they Norman?”

“Yes, Mother.  Especially the little blonde one with the interesting-colored eyes.”

“Why Norman!  Do you have a crush?”

A flush touched sallow cheeks.  “Yes, Mother.”

“Well, that settles it. We should keep them for a while. Or forever.”

“If you insist, Mother.”

“Norman, did you just hiss at me?”

“No, Mother–I didn’t.”

“Actually, I did,” came a low voice from behind them.  They turned just in time to see a flash of red hair.  Their muffled cries were unheard in the now-empty darkness.

~~~~~
The imminent danger (and competition) now past, Laressa returned to her cozy room and settled in the chair by the fire.  Around her were a dozen cocoons wriggling about on the floor, the quiet of the room only disturbed by occasional moans of pleasure from within them.
Laressa reflected back on the stories each of her companions had told.  She had gotten to know each of them a little better, learning much about their fears…and their hidden desires.  She began to think of ways she could ‘help’ them with both.
Her work for the evening done, Laressa relaxed and dozed off, knowing her friends were safe.
Safe from others, anyway…
~~~~~

Elspeth stretched and yawned as she and Aya descended to the inn’s common room.  Aly and Millie were already seated, blinking sleep from their eyes in adorably similar expressions.

“So what’s for breakfast?”

“Good question,” Evie said.  “Where’s our creep… our hosts?”

“No sign of them or any of the other staff,” Bree said, peeking her head into the kitchen.  “There’s food here, though.  I think I can…”

“We’ll help!” Millie volunteered, tugging Aly toward the kitchen.

~~~~~
Breakfast was a strangely awkward affair, with furtive looks between the girls as they enjoyed a delicious meal of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and coffee.  Their hosts were still absent.
“Has anyone seen Laressa?” Aya asked, glancing around.
“Oh my!” Millie’s hand went to her mouth.  “I hope she’s okay.”
“We can look after breakfast, Millistripes!” Prim took another bite of her pancakes.  “One should always do a search party on a full stomach.”
“No need to worry.”
Heads turned as Laressa entered the common room, a slight pout touching her full lips. Her expression brightened a bit upon seeing the others.
“We saved some for you,” Bree nodded to a plate set on the opposite end of the table.
Laressa offered a smile and ate in thoughtful silence.  After the meal concluded, Elspeth went to the front desk.
“We’re ready to settle out!  Hello?  Innkeeper?  Baiter?  Hellooooo?”
“I don’t think we need to worry,” Laressa said.  “I… settled accounts with them last night.  I think we should be off.”
“That’s not right,” Evie said.  “You shouldn’t have to pay for our rooms.”
“Don’t worry about it,” Laressa smiled, giving Evie a look that made the blonde shiver.  “You can repay the favor…later.”
~~~~~

As they set down the road, the sun began to peek through the clouds, offering the hope of a rain-free day.

“It’s looking like a beautiful day!” Millie chirped.  “I feel wonderful!  Delightfully-spooky stories with my best friends, a… uh… great night’s sleep…”

She reddened a bit and glanced to Aly, who bit her lip and smiled in response.

“Yeah,” Aly said.  “I have to admit, I had a bad vibe from that place, but it was a nice night.  Comforting.”

Others glanced at one another with warm looks, pinked cheeks, and secret smiles as they continued down the road.

From the Baiter Inn, two pairs of eyes watched from a building that suddenly looked far more decrepit and ruined as the sunlight touched it.

“SHENANIGANS!!!  That red-haired trollop took all of our staff!  And then left with the replacements!”

“Next time, Mother.  Next time…”
